In
many cases face-to-face communication is better since
it is more personal, and gestures and expressions can
help understanding. However, I do not completely agree
with the statement because there are many situations
where other forms of communication might be better.
In job situations for example letters, e-mail and telephone
may be better. For example, it would be unacceptable
only to inform someone of their new job face-to-face.
In this case an official letter would be more appropriate.
E-mail is a quick way to get a message to someone and
is a better option than 'face-to-face' when you want
to inform lots of different people about the same thing.
In addition the telephone is obviously better when
the 2 people involved are far apart, or even in different
countries. Whilst face-to-face communication may often
be preferable I feel that this depends on the particular
situation. (145 words)
