There are
many advantages of having friends who are different from ourselves especially
those who have different occupations or are in different generations. We can
learn different ways of thinking from those kinds of people. They often inspire
us in various aspects. On the other hand, it is more comfortable to be with friends
who are similar to ourselves because they are easier to communicate with. They
are more likely to agree with you, and they probably understand exactly what
you mean. You can share the joy of your hobbies with them. Being similar to each
other leads to more satisfaction and less frustration. My conclusion is that
we need both kinds of friends. But if I have to choose either of them, I prefer
friends who are similar to me so that I can get along with them for a long time.
