I agree that students should learn a foreign language
as soon as possible because they will be able to learn
it faster and better at a younger age. Studies have
shown that it is more difficult for adults to learn
a new language than for children. Children pick up
the listening, writing, and comprehension much faster
if they learn it early. To take advantage of their
capabilities, children should start learning a new
language as soon as they start school. School is a
great place to start learning a new language. There
are foreign language teachers that are at the school
that can teach the child how to speak properly. Homework
and assignments can be given to the student for practice.

I disagree because I think they should begin learning
a foreign language before they start school. Children
can learn a lot at a very young age and do not need to
be at school entry age before beginning to learn languages.
Most toddlers are able to learn 3-5 languages at the
age of 2 or 3 years old. We should not limit their chance
to learn new things just because they are not old enough
to enter school.

I disagree because I think children should be given
the choice as to what they would like to learn. Every
child is talented in different ways. Some may be good
at languages while others may be good at music or art.
We should not make it mandatory for a child to learn
a new foreign language when he/she enters school. The
choice should be decided by looking at what the child
is interested in learning.
