The best
way to learn English is to practice listening to native speakers of English.
Everybody learns grammar, reading, and writing in school, but the students
who know English best listen to English spoken by natives in movies, songs,
and in person. Japan is inundated with American and British movies now. We
can see them in the theater, watch them on DVD and VHS, or even download
them from the internet. Watching and listening to them allows us to hear
English used naturally. Also, it gives us a visual context to understand
words and phrases we have never heard before. American and British music
are also widely available to us here. We can hear English songs on the radio,
CDs, and MP3s. These are great because songs usually repeat the words in
the chorus, and that helps with memorization. Of course it is good to listen
to native speakers of English in person as well. Then we even have the chance
to process what we hear and try to respond appropriately.(171words)
